Khensur Rinpoche

Khensur Rinpoche Lobsang Tsephel

Khensur Rinpoche Lobsang Tsephel was born in Lithang, Tibet, in 1931. He was ordained at the age of 9. After years of dedicated studies and practice, he received the geshe lharampa degree and geshe ngarampa degree, signifying that he is fully qualified to impart teachings on both sutra and tantra.

Khensur Rinpoche was the abbot of Ganden Jangtse Monastery from 2001 to 2008. He became one of the lineage holders of the monastery in 2005. He has worked tirelessly to restore the main shrine hall, built two hospitals, trained outstanding sangha and so on.

Over the years, Khensur Rinpoche has devoted himself fully to the propagation of Dharma. He emphasizes the 4 preliminary practices of Ganden Mahamudra, and guides the students in taking refuge, generating the mind of enlightenment, practicing the Guru Yoga, purifying negative deeds, amassing the two accumulations of merit and wisdom, as well as practicing the stainless emptiness view of the Middle Way Consequence School.

In 1999, Khensur Rinpoche personally led many students in completing 100,000 times of full prostration in Bodhgaya. He is a qualified master with perfect ethical discipline combined with compassion and wisdom.
